    What you see

    What this means

    Your body of water can no longer handle the pollution load. TASO identifies two major risk factors:

    • Toxic Risk (Cyanobacteria): This refers to a proliferation of potentially toxic micro-algae (neurotoxins, hepatotoxins).
    • An excess of phosphorus and hot stagnant water promote their dominance. They accumulate on the surface in the form of "blooms," making the water dangerous to contact and ingest.
