    Bioremediation to Combat Siltation

    Siltation is a direct consequence of eutrophication: the body of water can no longer break down organic matter, which accumulates in compact, anaerobic layers.

    The Biolimpid process Biolimpid of four phases:


    1. Colonization The pellets quickly settle to the bottom of the water body and release non-pathogenic lactic acid bacteria into the sediment.

    2. Fragmentation Microorganisms break down the organic chains responsible for the cohesion of the sludge.
    3. Biological degradation
      Bacteria metabolize sedimented organic matter, causing a gradual decrease in its volume and consistency.

    4. Oxygenation The sediment structure opens up again, promoting oxygen circulation and recolonization by benthic fauna
